Customer feedback session and Juan Loiza’s thoughts on the future of OLTP
Juan Loaiza, Executive Vice President, Mission-Critical Database Technologies
Juan Loaiza is responsible for leading product strategy, development, and management for the world’s leading transaction processing and engineered systems technologies, in the cloud and on-premises. His team is focused on automating and converging database technologies to make application development and operations dramatically easier, saving customers time and money and allowing them to focus on what matters most to them. Juan holds BS and MS degrees in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1988, he left the MIT doctoral program to join the Oracle Database engineering team and has been an innovator in database technologies ever since. In his free time, Juan is an active supporter of more than 15 organizations around the world that work to conserve wildlife and wild places, including WildAid and Wildlife Conservation Network.
Tirthankar Lahiri, Senior Vice President, Data and In-Memory Technologies
Tirthankar Lahiri is senior vice president of data and in-memory technologies at Oracle, and has 26 years of database industry experience. He leads the relational database management system (RDBMS) engine group, including generative AI and approximate search, next-gen app dev, database in-memory, data and indexing, space management, transactions, and the database file system. He is also responsible for the Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database and Oracle NoSQL Database development teams. Tirthankar has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford.
Wei Hu, Senior Vice President, Software Development
Wei Hu is senior vice president of development for Oracle Database High Availability. With Oracle since 1998, he leads the development of Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture, Oracle Globally Distributed Database, Oracle True Cache, Oracle Active Data Guard, Oracle Recovery, and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) Cache Fusion. Wei also leads the development of microservices, Kubernetes, and blockchain. He holds more than 50 patents and he has a BS and and an MS degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Ashish Ray, Vice President, Mission Critical Technologies Product Management, Oracle
Ashish Ray is Vice President of Product Management within Oracle’s core database development organization. His product responsibilities include Exadata, Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance, Oracle Database’s High Availability solutions (Maximum Availability Architecture), and all associated Platform as a Service (PaaS) Cloud Services.
Markus Michalewicz, Vice President, Mission Critical Database Product Management
Markus Michalewicz is a vice president of product management at Oracle, part of Oracle Database development for Oracle Database high availability (HA), scalability, Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA), and Oracle Cloud Migration. Applying real-world experience and customer feedback, his team has helped ensure the 24/7 availability of critical, high-throughput OLTP and DWH database systems on-premises and in the cloud.
