Mark Yates
Biography: Mark Yates brings more than 20 years' experience to his role as a digital transformation analyst. Working closely with other analysts and consultants, he helps translate the tenets of digital transformation into practical strategies and actions. He identifies emerging business models that can upend cash cows and generate new revenue streams. He helps firms identify pain points and the primary obstacles preventing more rapid transformation. And he assesses market dynamics to determine which technologies will be hot and where IT suppliers and enterprise users should invest their time and talent. Prior to taking on the role of analyst, Mr. Yates worked in marketing, communications, and training for companies in CEE and the UK. He served as IDC CEE’s lead analysts for Government Insights, as IDC EMEA’s interim marketing director, and as IDC CEMA’s marketing manager. In addition to promoting IDC products and services, he helped analysts turn complex research into accessible summaries, briefs, and press releases. He also gave in-depth presentations on IT markets at IDC events across the region. Outside IDC, Mr. Yates has worked with and for telcos, IT security firms, training agencies, and a startup. Yates holds a master’s degree in communications from the University of Oregon and a bachelor’s from Iowa State University. He has also passed the first two CFA® exams and lectures on business strategy at private educational organizations.
