Disrupt or be disrupted: how to navigate the open industry collaborations landscape to innovate in a sea of change
Network technology disruptions (SDN/NFV, 5G, G.fast, IoT), Telco and IT convergence and real time changes in customer expectations are putting unprecedented pressure on operators.
New service offerings, new business models, partnerships and ecosystems will shape a radical transformation of Communications Service Providers culture, organization and operating mode because not even the largest operators can survive these disruptions alone.
Oracle has always thrived on standards and we actively contribute to many initiatives that are key to the future of the communications industry.
In this session, we will share our motivations, strategy and engagements as well as the challenges, opportunities and realistic expectations based on real life examples.
Philippe Lalande,
Director Industry Collaborations, Oracle Communications
12:00 – 13:00
The benefits of virtualizing next generation networks
Just as the cloud has transformed the IT industry, NFV is transforming the communications industry by enabling CSPs to move beyond the limitations of proprietary hardware to revolutionize service agility and speed to market.
However, virtualizing networks is not enough; CSPs must consider how to transform the network to meet customer needs and grow the bottom line, while best leveraging existing assets in the new hybrid network reality.
This presentation will discuss the benefits of NFV, the challenges faced by operators on their move to virtualization and determine how to pragmatically transition from physical to virtual networks.
