Customer Speaker | Tristan Webb Head of Development, Tungsten Network
Tristan has over 18 years' experience in designing and developing software applications within the finance industry. Starting his career in banking at Northern Trust, he moved to Merita Bank in 1998 to focus on software development. In 2001 he joined little known start-up company, Open Business Exchange (later OB10), to build their Web Portal. Acquired by Tungsten Corporation PLC in 2014, Tungsten Network as it is now known is the largest e-Invoicing network in the world, serving 55% of the fortune 500. Tristan is the Head of Development, overseeing their core Invoice, PO and Invoice Financing services.
Presentation abstract
Tungsten adopted Oracle as its database provider of choice in 2001 as part of the original proof of concept for the platform. Through a very close partnership with Oracle, Tungsten Network has been able to rapidly evolve its platform to meet the demands of the business, minimise downtime and ensure that Tungsten is well positioned to continue to evolve into further cloud technologies. By following the journey from Oracle 10 to 12c, for a medium sized transactional database, an interesting story emerges about upgrading, embracing cloud technologies and "getting bloodied" along the way.
About Tungsten Network
Tungsten Corporation aims to be the world's most trusted business transaction network by using data intelligently to strengthen the global supply chain.
Tungsten Network is a secure e-invoicing platform that brings businesses and their suppliers closer together with unique technology that revolutionises invoice processing, maximises efficiency and improves cash flow management. The network also provides users with real-time spend analysis through Tungsten Analytics, and offers access to Tungsten Early Payment, a form of alternative finance for businesses.
Tungsten serves 56% of the Fortune 500 and 67% of the FTSE 100. It enables suppliers to submit tax compliant e-invoices in 47 countries, and last year processed transactions worth over $187bn for organisations such as Alliance Data, Aviva, Cargill, Deutsche Lufthansa, General Motors, GlaxoSmithKline, Henkel, IBM, Kellogg's and the US Federal Government.
