The application collects more than half a million records a day and runs real-time analytical queries. Over the last few years, OpenStack has emerged as the leading cloud computing project, enabling organizations to provide a standardized infrastructure as a service as the foundation of their IT stack. CERN has been testing OpenStack since 2011 and has been running a large OpenStack cloud in production since July 2013 to serve the computing power needs of the high-energy-physics community in an easily scalable fashion. This session presents a case study of integrating Oracle VM with CERN’s OpenStack deployment, together with recommendations and best practices other organizations can adopt to deploy Oracle VM in their OpenStack clouds.
