During this workshop, attendees will experience first-hand how Oracle Multitenant allows them to save time and effort by accomplishing a number of tasks in just minutes:
Database Administration Lab will include:
- Basic administration
- Querying data dictionary and performance views
- User security for multitenant
- Manageability
- Using EM12c with a multitenant database
- Performance and resource management
Lifecycle Administration lab will include:
- Migration strategies to DB12c Multitenant databases
- Using DBLM (EXPDP / IMPDP) to a multitenant database
- Upgrade in place 11g to 12c to multitenant database
- Patching
- Provisioning
- Cloning
- Rapidly creating dev/test environments with snapshot multitenant databases
Database Consolidation lab will cover:
- Backup/Recovery of multitenant databases using RMAN
- Point in time recovery
- Recovery of a multitenant database
- Promotion of multitenant databases through SLA service tiers
- Database consolidation testing using database consolidation replay
NOTE: Participants should bring their own laptops to connect to the workshop environment.
Participants will need administrative rights on their machines to be able to install an ActiveX control. Mac and Windows XP, Vista or 7 are supported; Windows 8 is not supported. You will also need IE or Firefox. VNC client (e.g. TightVNC), wireless support and 16GB memory.
